Customers at the retail chain’s brick and mortar stores can claim free “daily affirmation” NFTs minted on Polygon.
US apparel and accessories retailer Alo Yoga has launched a campaign with crypto payments firm MoonPay for their customers to claim a free NFT in-store.
Customers shopping at Alo Yoga’s brick and mortar stores can redeem a free digital collectible featuring “daily affirmations.”
The collection, launched for Mental Health Awareness Month in the US, lets customers participate in an in-store experience where they “Tap for Mindfulness,” by using a smartphone at a terminal at the checkout counter. The terminal, equipped with a near-field communication (NFC) chip, points customers to a website where they can redeem a free daily NFT.
Alo Yoga’s daily affirmation NFTs feature artwork that focuses on the concept of mindfulness, and provides the holder access to mental health resources, according to the company. The retailer adds they will bring in more NFT collection opportunities through customer email.
Alo’s NFTs were created with MoonPay’s NFT minting platform, and are minted on Ethereum scaling network Polygon. Alo says they will cover all minting fees tied to the campaign, to keep the entire process non-technical and approachable for everyone.
“We’re not using Web3 jargon,” Alo Yoga Global Head of Marketing Angelic Vendette said, in a press release. “Instead, we are providing our community with the opportunity to explore digital ownership in familiar environments.”
Earlier this year, Alo dropped a more technical NFT, tied to authenticity certificates for a physical apparel drop.
According to Alo, the daily affirmation NFTs could also bring future benefits for holders, granting them token-gated access to events and even exclusive sales.
“We anticipate that most users will initially engage in Web3 through the brands they know and love,” MoonPay CEO and co-founder Ivan Soto-Wright said in a statement.
